TRAVEL BUYERS HANDBOOK
As the business events hub of the Middle East, Dubai is ideally located and equipped to handle the diverse needs
of planners. From small meetings in intimate boardrooms to
gatherings of thousands, the city has consistently proven to be a
destination of choice for the global events community.
At the heart of the city’s portfolio of event spaces is the
Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the largest purpose-built
convention and exhibition center in the Middle East. With over
1. 3 million square feet of covered event space, it plays host to
some of the biggest international trade fairs, conventions and
consumer shows across key industry sectors.
Encompassing four hotels with more than 1,000 rooms
in total, the Madinat Jumeirah complex is home to the multi-purpose Madinat Conference and Events Centre; its ballrooms
can accommodate between 400-1,700 guests. The Madinat Arena
can hold up to 4,500 guests and features a fixed upper gallery and
exclusive VIP sections.
With each of its two towers standing at a height of 1,165
feet, the JW Marriott Marquis offers a total of 55,500 square
feet of meeting space spread across 32 meeting rooms and two
large ballrooms. Meeting rooms can comfortably host up to 18
delegates, while the ballroom capacity totals 1,548 delegates. This
hotel is also the world’s tallest hotel.
Newly-opened in 2016, Dubai Opera, a 2,000-seat, multi-format theater, has quickly established itself as one of the
most significant, vibrant and successful performing arts and
entertainment centers in the Middle East. It is central to The
Opera District, a new arts and lifestyle destination in Downtown
Dubai, home of global icons such as the Burj Khalifa. Uniquely,
it has the ability to transform into three modes: theater, concert
hall, and a flat-floor form ideal for banquets and events.
DUBAI: a world of
opportunities for business
and incentive events
Dubai is also home to over 104,000 guest rooms across its
expanding hotel and hotel apartment inventory, which plays a
key role in supporting the growth of meetings, incentive travel,
conferences and exhibition bookings in the city. Among the latest is
Address Boulevard, the newest property from homegrown developer
Emaar Hospitality Group, and a sister property to the Address Dubai
Mall and Address Dubai Marina. With 196 rooms and suites, it sits
just minutes away from the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building,
and Dubai Mall, one of the world’s most visited.
For planners looking for something a little more away from
the heart of the city, the Five Palm Jumeirah Dubai is another
new option. A contemporary resort, with 468 spacious guest
rooms and suites, sits on the iconic Palm Jumeirah and features a
328-foot-long pool and beach club.
The St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor offers the ultimate refined
luxury in a stunning setting. The first-ever polo resort for the St.
Regis brand, the Andalusian-style hotel comprises 151 guest rooms,
including 30 suites and 25 St. Regis branded villas. The resort is
designed around four international-standard polo fields placed
within close proximity to Dubai’s main touristic attractions.
Among the excursion and incentive options in the city is a
visit to the At The Top conservatory on the 125th floor of the
Burj Khalifa, which offers stunning 360-degree views of the
city. For high-speed thrills, the Dubai Autodrome, a 3.6-mile
motorsport circuit, offers exhilarating on-track experiences for
visitors. The facility offers various corporate packages that include
team-building exercises. Meanwhile, visitors can also soar high
above the city with a scenic seaplane tour of Dubai. Sea Wings’
signature flight, a 40-minute Dubai Silver Air Tour, takes off from
Dubai Creek or Jebel Ali and cruises past Dubai’s most iconic
landmarks, including the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and the World
Islands. These trips are great for team building and VIP programs.
