and more. If there is any sports-related
activity in a meetings program, Greensboro is
the host for it.
Another surprising thing about Greensboro
is its number of Four-Diamond properties.
In 2017, three properties won this accolade:
the 147-room Proximity Hotel, the 131-
room O. Henry Hotel, and the the 244-room
Grandover Resort. Of the three, the Proximity
and O. Henry are sustainable and employee-owned, which ticks a lot of boxes for groups

;e Streamsong Resort, located about an
hour from Tampa in central Florida, is
pretty upfront about what it o;ers: golf,
golf, and more golf. “As a bucket list golf
destination,” says Jim Bullock, director of
sales and marketing, “it’s no surprise that

that come speci;cally to experience the
prestigious golf courses.”
And it’s been a very successful venture:

European-style spa with six unique pool
experiences, and a 12-station sporting clay
range, golf is what attendees come for.
Streamsong’s famous Red and Blue
courses were designed by world-renowned
architects, but when the resort debuted the
Streamsong Black course in September 2017,
it was quickly named the “Best New Course of
the Year” by GOLF magazine.
Also part of the debut were ;e Gauntlet,
a two-acre, 18-hole putting course and
;e Roundabout, a six-hole practice area.
An emerging trend, meeting planners are
seeking to engage casual, non-golfers with
the Streamsong golf experience as a way to
increase teambuilding skills and facilitate
In addition to the resort’s ;ve dining venues
(including a roo;op lounge), a gastropub,
Bone Valley Tavern, is located in the new
Streamsong Black Clubhouse. As a special
group experience, Executive Chef Michael
Ford and his culinary team will o;er a live
cooking demonstration that re;ects seasonal

from local growers. ■
